Digital Photography: Why It Is the Better Technology
Film cameras had undoubtedly served our needs for the
greater part of human history since the camera was first discovered, but, as
with any other field of technology, it has run its course out. Film cameras are
now getting replaced by digital cameras all over the world, by professionals
and average users alike. The reason for such a revolution is the simple fact
that digital photography is today’s technology while film photography is
yesterday’s technology. There are many advantages that digital photography has
over the older film photography and it is based on these advantages that the
masses have now started to choose the modern technology of digital photography.
The world today is fast and probably the most expensive commodity that you can save is time. Digital photography does exactly that, which means that it is adept at saving time as it not need processing time to develop the photos and neither does it need rolls of films before you can start shooting again. The very fact that you do not have to wait for hours or even days before you can even have a first look at the picture that you just snapped is good enough to convince most people towards replacing their film camera with a digital camera.
As you are able to see what you captured instantly o the LCD screen in your digital camera, you can decide quickly whether it is good enough or do you need more shots to get an even better image. All you need is to fit your digital camera with a memory card and you can be clicking photographs all day long without any interruption. If you are using a 10 mega pixel DSLR, be sure to buy a card with at least 2 GB of memory and you won’t have to worry about filling it all up. Just as lack of the need of films and the convenience of quick view saves time, the ability to transfer images directly on to a computer saves you even more time by omitting the scanning process necessary for a develop film based photograph.
Digital photographs are of superior quality as well and this is due to two factors which are impossible to be applied in case of a film photo. As the photographer can see the digital photo instantly on the camera’s LCD screen, he/she can decide whether or not the capture was appropriate. Even if it is not appropriate, the photographer can learn from the mistakes of the current photo and re-shoot the same image to rectify the mistakes. This whole process of trial and error takes about a few minutes. The other reason responsible for the better quality of digital photos is that these can be edited. With the aid of advanced photo editors like “Photoshop”, a photographer can not only make his most ordinary shot look incredible, but also add touches to it that would make it unique.
With so many benefits in the favor of digital photography, I am afraid that film photography will continue to die out.
